What is Medical Weight Loss?
Weight management medication works, and for the right person it works well. Whether it is appropriate for you, which one, and at what dose depends on your labs, your history, what else you are taking and what you are trying to achieve.
We follow approved dosing and titration schedules. Faster is not better, and most of the side effects that make people quit come from moving too quickly. Your provider will go through the specific medication, what it does, what it costs and what to expect, at your results appointment. You will have all of it in writing before you agree to anything.

Here’s what you can expect when you start your weight loss journey with us.
Baseline
Complete your comprehensive lab panel. We review your results together before anything is prescribed.
Follow-up appointment
After reviewing your lab results, health history, and goals, we will discuss and recommend different treatment options.
Ongoing
We repeat labs every three to six months, and continue having conversations each time about how you are eating, how you are training and how you are feeling. The numbers alone do not tell us enough.
Maintenance
Once you reach your goal weight, you can choose what to do. Some people choose to continue a maintenance dose, while others choose to stop their medication entirely. Whatever you decide, we will help guide you.
What We Test
A single lab draw, and we go through every result with you before anything is prescribed.
- Metabolic A1c, fasting glucose, full metabolic panel. Insulin resistance changes what treatment makes sense and how quickly it works.
- Thyroid An underactive thyroid causes weight gain, fatigue and cold intolerance, and it is treated completely differently.
- Hormones Low testosterone in men and the menopausal transition in women both drive weight gain and both change body composition. Treating the weight without looking at these is treating half the problem.
- Lipids and Blood Count A full lab panel, so we know where you are starting and what improves.
If your history calls for more, we add it and tell you why before we draw.

In-Clinic vs At-Home Care
Both work and people choose each for different reasons.
In clinic
You come in weekly for your injection. We see you four times a month, which means side effects get caught early, questions get answered in person, and dose changes happen when they should rather than at your next appointment.
This is what we recommend, particularly while your dose is still moving. A lot of people start in clinic while the dose is settling and move to at home once things are steady. You can switch whenever it suits you.
At home
We ship your medication and supplies to you and teach you exactly how to self-administer your medication. This at-home option is available for people who live far away from our clinic or have busy schedules that make it hard to come into our clinic every week.
We will walk you through self-injection properly, over video, as many times as it takes until you are comfortable. Nobody gets a box in the post and a link to a leaflet.
Two Things We Will Not Do
Worth saying plainly, because not everywhere is the same.
Prescribe without looking
No panel, no prescription. If your weight is being driven by thyroid disease or a hormone problem, medical weight loss could be the wrong answer and we would rather find that out first.
Rely solely on total pounds lost
If your weight is down, but your muscle is gone and your metabolism is slower than when you started, that is not a success and we will tell you that plainly.
